Since the 1960s, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), offered benefits to low-income Americans, offering food stamps to purchase food at grocery stores and famers markets. Recently, the Trump administration announced their proposal to eliminate the food stamp program, and replacing it with "America's Harvest Box," a proposed budget where the Department of Agriculture (USDA) would purchase food, add it to "America's Harvest Box," and ship it directly to qualifying recipients.

Leslie Gordon, CEO of Feeding Westchester (formerly Food Bank of Westchester), offers her expert perspective on the propsed plan, outlining the the drawbacks, as well as illustrating how this will effect the private sector.
