Scripture references are found in Matthew 13: 24-30 and Matthew 13:31-35 - The parable of the wheat and the tares and the parable of the mustard seed and the leaven.
Tonight we are studying 2 parables from the book of Matthew in the 13th chapter. Jesus' parables had two distinct purposed: 1. to reveal truth to those who were willing to hear and believe, and 2. to conceal tuth from those who willingly rejected truth because of their callosed hearts. When we receive the truth, it causes us to be accountable for what we hear by the Word and serves as an example of what we experience in light of our every day natural lives. It brings clarity to any part of His word that could be misunderstood. God's word is truth. The bible says that you shall now the truth and the truth and the truth shall make you free.
Tares are weeds. Weeds are unbelievers. Weeds and wheat must live side by side in the world. God allows unbelievers to remain for awhile so that the surrounding wheat isn't uprooted with them. At the end of the world the weeds will be uprooted and thrown away. God's harvest (judjment of all people is coming. We must make sure our faith is sincere. Our hearts will indeed be judged.
The mustard seed is the smallest planted in a field, however, it grows into a tree. The kingdom will grow and produce great results.
