Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you. John 15:16

God has chosen and called us for the direct purpose of bearing fruit.  The issue here is the fruit. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. The fruit of the the Spirit is not just activity in the church. It is the product of the Holy Spirit and His power working in us. A tree bears fruit after its kind Jesus said, Ye shall know them by their fruit. Note, the fruit of the Spirit cannot be borne in anyone who refuses to be controlled and led by the Holy Spirit.

The beginning of the 15th chapter of the book of John tells us that Jesus is the true vine, and my father is the husbandman. Every branch that beareth fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit. It will take total surrender to the Holy Spirit for the fruit to be manifested in our lives. We must allow the Holy Spirit to have complete control and allow Him to develop us to fulfill God's purpose for as the branches. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. Without Him we can do nothing. Fruit bearing is conditioned upon communion or fellowship with the Lord. Jesus is the Vine, and while the Vine is in Heaven, we are linked with Him through the Holy Spirit. We are the branches placed in this world to bear fruit; but the fruit is borne only as we walk in unbroken fellowship with the Lord.
