Molly Reeves of Redskunk Jipzee Swing Band

This group of young California central coast musicians puts together a surprisingly mature sound that draws from Django Reinhardt,' 30s European jazz and American roots traditions. Molly Reeves (National Resophonic guitar, vocals), Sam Boorman (Django guitar), Ken Davis (drums & percussion), Pamela Scheffler (Grappelli violin), Justin Au (swing trumpet), Mitch Grossman (stand-up low-down bass) deliver fun, hot jazz with a twist. This ensemble has recently performed at the Live Back Bay Jazz Fesitval, Oak Music Festival, the Morro Bay Harbor Festival, and the Big Sur Jade Festival. They recently opened for Portland’s own “3 leg Torso”. The RedSkunk Jipzee Swing Band received the highest overall scores at the Sacramento youth band festival this year. These talented players are fresh, spontaneous, spunky and exceedingly entertaining. We will be reviewing their new album, "Premonitions" on the show. With two CD’s already available, this band is rapidly cutting a wide path to success!
