This is not the first time that we have welcomed Patrick Yandall to "Hybrid Jazz." But THIS time is more meaningful. Having lived through more than half of 2020, surrounded by circumstances that we never saw coming, Patrick's music WILL mean more to you. You're going to take the new "Rouge River" to heart. HE did!

Our guest has worn multiple hats through the years - certainly since the early 90's when he launched his recording career. A session guitarist, producer, engineer, and composer of Jazz as well as instrumental music for Film, TV and Radio. Oh - and that multiple thing? He plays more than one instrument. Patrick is CONSUMED with music. Passionate. It's why we love him.

North Carolina born, he was raised in Bay City, Michigan. Dad was in the military - and the family moved often. To ease the feelings of displacement and loneliness, Patrick picked up the trumpet in the fourth grade. In the SIXTH grade, he was involved in a football accident - that resulted in a three month hospital stay. Dad encouraged his musically inclined boy to start playing guitar.

At 13, he was playing the clubs! With inspiration from Rock and Soul - then Jazz when he heard Kenny G and Roy Ayers, this young one was on FIRE. He moved to San Diego in the early 80's, getting involved in bands that played covers. And his reputation grew as being creative, intuitive and flexible. This enabled him to find work in Los Angeles. With some highly prestigious fellow artists - including Tommy Emmanuel and Randy Brecker.

With more than two dozen projects to his name - and many so memorable in Contemporary Jazz circles that they have been played regularly on the Weather Channel - this beloved (here's that word again) MULTI-dimensional artist is giving us another piece of his heart. By way of "Rouge River." Let's make sure that we welcome Patrick Yandall on 9/8 - and support his music!
