What a gift to the WORLD Gerald Albright is!  We've known this for years - but please allow this host/writer to enumerate WHY. Gerald's early training was on piano.  But he was interested in his teacher's saxophone - by the time he entered University of Redlands, he was well-versed on that instrument.  However, he happened to see Louis Johnson in concert (Brothers Johnson) - and he switched to bass.

Upon graduation, he joined Patrice Rushen's new band and replaced the bass player mid-tour. So, now he's comfortalbe with THREE ways of communicating music - but he actually plays more :)  Listen, this is a talented gentleman who was in DEMAND in the 80's.  Session work with All KINDS of acts: Anita Baker, Olivia Newton-John, Temptations, Lola Falana (you young 'uns don't know who she is - we'll tell you on the show!)  Gerald was also touring with Les McCann, Teena Marie, Quincy Jones, Whitney Houston and more.  Ask Phil Collins about our guest - he'd be here for DAYS telling you what a joy it was to work with Gerald.

Have you ever counted how many Grammy nominations this man has received?  Dizzying!  And they came early in his solo career, too - the cool thing is?  They haven't let UP!  He's a familiar name at the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts. GA has sold over a MILLION records in the USA alone :-O  Plus, he has appeared on nearly 200 albums by other artists.  Incredible.  TV shows, Presidential Inaugurations, International Festivals, Sold-Out venues, collaborations with other musicians that only make whoever else sound BETTER ;)  - it's like that with Gerald Albright.  He's The Cream of the Crop - and The Cream has a NEW project coming!  We'll hear the first single - and celebrate his birthday coming up - when he visits on 8/18.  Join us!
