Once again, Kari Gaffney of Kari-On Productions, has introduced me to a stellar talent.  Enrique Haneine (Ha Nee Nee) is one of the most fascinating artists that I've encountered.  He was born in Mexico City and his heritage is Lebanese.  I say this with emphasis because of the Jazz on canvas that Enrique paints.  His memory of what he learned and absorbed grew with him - and those musical memories must have fueled him toward intense educational experiences.  He has FOUR degrees!  That includes a Masters in Jazz Piano Performance.  And our guest has been revered for his work on keys.  In Mexico Pop circles and the New York Jazz scene.

It's truly difficult to give you the length and breadth of this elegant man's journey so far.  He came to Boston in 1996 and studied with an array of serious musicians - but wise enough to advise Enrique to FLY and find his own unique path.  He did.  Intelligent and searching music.  Dazzling in its creativity.  Uninhibited but with a path toward home in every composition.  This is a Eubie Blake Scholar three years in a row, a Jane Jarvis Jazz Competition winner, a gifted teacher who is able to convey to his students a sense of freedom in thought and playing.  On "Instants of Time", his follow-up to "At The End of the Day" (2005), Enrique switches gears from piano to drums. And the same expertise and class that have won him so many fans this far?  That's here and MORE on his latest effort.

There has been a huge association with superstar Ricky Martin (Enrique as arranger, pianist and music director) - and there have been amazing connections with Wynton Marsalis, Joe Lovano, Ingrid Jensen and more.  But it's the work NOW that is receiving the buzz that Enrique deserves.  When you hear these tracks, you'll be spellbound :)  6/14/2016.  2 p.m. Eastern.
