Dwight Sills is familiar to ANYONE who is a Jazz, etc. music follower on Facebook.  He has been a guest on "Hybrid Jazz" a few years ago - but this time promises to be electrifying.  If you know Dwight at ALL, you know that he is as passionate about social justice as he is about music.  So, the time is absolutely on-target to talk to him!

His new "Short Stories" project is beautifully filled with memories and meaning.  To delve into those memories is a priority :) Having just returned from a BUSY cruise, he might be a tad tired - but the other side of him is "fired up and ready to GO!"

Our guest (and friend) was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Dad was a singer and got his kids involved in music lessons. Dwight started off with drums, then bass, and finally focused on guitar.  The 1980's found him in Houston, where Axis was playing.  That was his group.  Kirk Whalum heard the exceptional talent in those fingers - and helped to get Dwight a contract with Columbia in 1990.  A self-titled album, then another ("Second Wind") - and Dwight was becoming known in prestigious circles as THE Guy!  Ready for the Who's Who of that group?  Kirk, of course - and Anita Baker, Rick Braun and Richard Elliot, Brenda Russell, Boney James, Jody Whatley and Bette Midler!  Babyface productions, too.  And another album in 1999 called "Easy."

Dwight has done TV, worked with household names there and in film, and has remained one of the favorite guitarists for artists who became very close friends - like George Duke.  Expect a few reminiscences about those days - yours truly is counting on those stories.  Forgive a writer here - but I hope that they are not SHORT :)

Hah!  A beautiful Master joins us on 3/1/2016.  One p.m. start time - Dwight visits at TWO Eastern!
