You may have just viewed a brief description of Renee Rosnes within the parameters of this page.  Trust and believe, you cannot be BRIEF when describing her talent!  She has been noted as both pianist and composer for a long time - and we bless the day that she moved to New York from Vancouver in order to facilitate her reputation :)

Renee is also an arranger - please make note.  And she is The "Go-To" goddess on keys for the filet mignon of artists within Jazz circles.  Joe Henderson, Buster Williams, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Hutcherson.  They'll TELL you.  James Moody asked her to join his elite circle of musical friends in 1989.  Renee was with his band until his passing in 2010.

As well as her own endeavors, Renee has taken part in grand events that would exhaust mere mortals.  She has been music director for prestigious affairs (one in particular comes to mind to honor her late, beloved boss, James Moody).  She has produced at Lincoln Center, has been involved with the SF Jazz Collective, has interviewed for the "Jazz Times", and has hosted her own radio show for Canada's CBC.

Please let her website do the talking, though.  One perusal at her "performances" page and you'll see the kinds of company that she keeps.  With Jimmy Greene, with Cecile McLoren Salvant, Anat Cohen, Ingrid Jensen, Terri Lyne Carrington, and a mainstay in her life: Ron Carter.  One of the most wonderful decisions that Renee has made in her career is to consciously seek out those with whom she has a connection - rare legends have asserted that they have a connection with RENEE.  It's no surprise that this amazingly intuitive artist has won multiple Juno Awards.  With a birthday coming in March - and with all of these fabulous CD release shows, there is MUCH to celebrate!  Join us on 2/9 - and we'll do JUST that!
