"The Real Doug Steele" a former disc jockey, radio personality and music historian born Douglas W. Candis in Cincinnati, OH. His broadcast career began in San Francisco in 1965 at the same station with Sly Stone (Sly & Family Stone). He became the first announcer for James Brown's first radio station in Knoxville, TN then to Nashville, TN and finally Atlanta.
Leaving radio in 1978 acquiring the position of Southeastern Regional District Manager of Promotions for Arista Records only to return to radio partnering with American Media and co-creating and hosting in 1981 to 1991 America's first Black syndicated radio music count down franchise "Coast to Coast Top 20" formerly "Coast to Coast Soul" airing over 600 radio stations worldwide and partnering with Anderson Media creating and producing the first Black syndicated contemporary gospel radio program, "Inspirations Across America."
