Who benefits from Trump’s NFL rant?  Not the country, not football fans, and not the NFL; Trump’s call for NFL players who take a knee during the national anthem to be fired was a troubling assault on free speech — and it put the league in an impossible position; The sports-talk-radio-caller president; The simplest, most unifying things — like football — become divisive in the age of Trump; Why do we care what NFL players think about politics?; Is Trump a uniter or a divider?  Yes, that's a rhetorical question; You don't have to stand with Trump or kneel with Kaepernick - stand for the flag and the First Amendment instead; Trump using NFL protests to hide Obamacare and immigration failures; We SHOULD respect the national anthem, the flag, and America, but we don't HAVE to; and the "strategy" of going too far.
