Advent is a season of preparation and waiting for the celebration of Jesus' birth at Christmas.  The term advent is from the Latin translation of "coming."  Its purpose is to look forward to the coming of Christ to Earth – the dawn of a new and better era.  The Old Testament prophecies prepared the way for God's promises.  The promise of the coming Messiah was fulfilled in the New Testament.

This broadcast – Tuesday, December 6th at 3:30pm PST will focus on celebrating the Advent of a new era. There are many many Bible passages, but our focus will be on Isaiah 9:2-7, 40:1-5; Micah 5:2-3; Luke 1:5-17, 2:1-20; Matthew 1:18-25.

The weeks of Advent remind us to set aside some of the hectic busyness of the holiday season, and to reflect on the promise of the baby born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.  Our Advent prayer is that God will prepare our hearts the way He prepared all of history to receive the gift of His Son.  We ask for God the Father to cut away the distractions and make our life a place of warmth, hope, faith, and charity.
