As with the PMI PMP certification, one may struggle with documenting all the required project hours AND then find they cannot locate the relevant managers. This is an important part of the prep process - knowing what you did on the 4500 or 7500 hours of project work leading projects. One must document the projects and if audited - they must have the managers from those projects sign off on an audit of the application.

PMP training providers should help with this process but many leave it to the learners to do on their own. Maureen White, CAPM, will share why she choose to do PMI's CAPM certification even though she had more than enough project hours to take the PMP certification. Maureen will also explain her method of studying that left her ready to take and pass her exam on the first attempt.

*PMI, PMP, CAPM, and PMBOK are registered trademarks of the Project Management Institute.
