This week on Harlem Talk Radio, we will hold a Harlem Talk Radio Town Hall. We will be speaking to Basil Smikle Jr who is a Candidate for New York State Senate. mom madness,Harlem news, harlem information, harlem arts and e,urban black talk radio Basil’s long history of community involvement spans a broad range of important issues and causes. He launched a literacy program at the public school where his mother teaches and helped 100 Black Men found the Eagle Academy. He’s stood with immigrant communities to fight unfair immigration laws. Basil helped create a jobs program in Indianapolis that grew out of his own graduate research at Columbia. And for five years now, he’s taught adult union members who’ve gone back to school to further their education and open new doors of opportunity. A lifelong Democrat, Basil served as a senior advisor to Hillary Clinton and worked with the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation. In our second half hour, we will discuss the USDA Summer Food Service Program with Audrey Rowe, USDA Deputy Administrator for Special Nutrition Programs. USDA’s Summer Food Service Program is designed to close the nutrition gap and prevent hunger.
