A lots being made about how the holidays are too commercial, that we’re missing the whole meaning behind the true essence of what the holiday spirit once represented. Things like family, friends, goodwill, etc., seem to get swept under (an ever growing) rug. The same is happening in the film industry; especially when it comes to "Holiday Movies". These days, there’s an abundance of movies made especially for the holidays, which seem to fall short of the old quality over quantity adage.  What happened to the sentiment and magic we felt while watching some of the classic holiday films? Why can’t films today be more like the classics, or at least cast a similar light, say with a modern twist?  That’s the dilemma, and our inspiration for this episode of "A Reel Point Of View"; to talk about the state of the holiday movies being put out today. How do they compare to those classic gems from Hollywood's golden age?  Let’s talk about what works in those movies; that may not work so well in a more modern approach. Join the conversation; tell us what do you think?
