4/4/06 - Episode #15 features an in-depth interview with architect Jim Fazio conducted for a video we were hired to produce for The Country Club of Oxford, in Oxford, Mississippi. The job was to create a short Membership Recruitment sales piece that featured Fazio on his design, a Troon Golf executive on how they will manage the facility and the two owners of the course. Because Jim agreed to let us use this interview for a GOLF SMARTER podcast, we got into depth about some topics that clearly wouldn't be necessary for the video, but was consistent with the show's topic.

We were lucky to get inside the head of a design legend. For me, it felt like a graduate seminar on golf course design and we had a lecturer who is an industry icon.

In addition to discussing three Par 4s (#2, #10 & #18) and two Par 3s (#2 & #11), topics include:
- The challenges of designing Oxford
- Designing for a private course vs. a public course
- Designing course for playing strategy
- Importance of Par 4s to a good course
- His design philosophy
- Creating shots
- Hazard design
- Designing for today's equipment and long hitters
