Sometimes it's easier for us to act on past experiences instead of the new avenue for which God wants to move in our lives. Past experiences can make us miss a present encounter with God. Remember when God told Moses to "speak" to the rock and the water would flow, but instead he "struck" it out of frustration. The bible says he hit the rock twice and water flowed, Moses caused the water to flow but he stopped up the glory because of his rebellion. His agitation and frustration caused him to manipulate the instructions of God. Moses went back to a previous method that worked in the past but it caused him to miss the measure of his promise. How many of us have been given new instructions but we keep trying to fulfill them with an old mindset. Many of us are frustrated, agitated and aggravated in our experiences yet we won't follow God's instructions for the glory to move in our lives. We're more concerned about the outcome and God is looking for the obedience. Are you striking when you should be speaking? Are you moving when you should be still? Are you stuck in the past experience of then or moving in the present encounter of now with God. I'm here to tell you by experience and encounter, until you obey God and do things the way He instructs you to, you'll have a lot of things operational (method of working) but not really functional (measure of the promise).
