While the Giving Black initiative has many foreparents, the Catalyzing Community Giving program is the godmother that put forth the belief that people have the inherent capacity to solve their own problems and that social transformation is within the reach of not just some, but all.  Dr. Alandra Washington, Vice President for Quality and Organizational Effectiveness at W. K. Kellogg Foundation, has been championing the work of amplifying the voices of diverse communities to help them create conditions in which their children can thrive.  Under her leadership the philanthropy field grew in diversity and practice and organizations became more explicit about commitments to community and civic engagement and racial equity.

Giving Black Radio is a key component in moving the needle to support the vitality of our community.  By exploring Giving Black from various walks of life, we highlight the strengths of our community's philanthropic journey.
