Studies have shown that regularly skipping breakfast increases your risk of obesity by 450 percent. In an ideal world, an average American would eat between 400 and 600 calories every morning. But it's not just the number of calories that matters. You want to usher in only "the right kind" of calories, meaning those that come from protein, fiber, and complex carbohydrates..

All food has its origin in plants; meat comes from animals raised by feeding them plants.  Cereal grain is a staple food that provides more food energy worldwide than any other type of crop.  Rice, Corn/Maize and Wheat account for 87% of all grain production worldwide. Non- animal or plant sources of nutrition include various edible fungi, especially mushrooms and blue-green algae. Root vegetables (potatoes, carrots, onion and leaf vegetables (spinach and lettuce), stem vegetables (bamboo shoots and asparagus) have been neglected in recent years. Root vegetables are generally storage organs, enlarged to store energy in the form of carbohydrates. They are the source of much needed minerals and trace nutrients for good human health.
