Jim and Jennifer welcome Julia Whitehead to the show. Rocking her baby to sleep one night, Julia had an epiphany: The world needed an organization dedicated to renowned and beloved author Kurt Vonnegut. She already lived in his hometown of Indianapolis. So she tracked down his son, Mark Vonnegut, and told him that building a memorial to Kurt Vonnegut would be the greatest work of her life. The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library opened in 2008 and today presents arts, cultural and humanities events and educational programming. Prior to this, Julia had writing and editing gigs for Random House, the Military Officers Association of America, the Indiana and South Carolina State Legislatures, and Eli Lilly & Co. She served in the Marine Corps and once taught English to second-graders in Bangkok.
