Donald has a long history of support for firefighters and has been hailed as a well recognized supporter of fire departments and initiatives in his State. Donald L. Moffitt Illinois State Representative 74th District Making Our Communities a Safer Place to Live and Work Working to make our communities a safer place to live and work, Moffitt has made public safety a top priority. Thanks to the efforts of Representative Moffitt, the 94th District (his former legislative district) was one of the first districts in the State of Illinois to equip every fire department with life-saving technology such as thermal imaging cameras. In addition, many area public safety officials were able to trade outdated equipment for the latest advanced live-saving equipment. The American Red Cross recognized Moffitt for his commitment to the health and safety of his constituents after he obtained automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for area police departments. As co-chairman of the House Fire Protection Task Force, a bipartisan committee working to ensure that fire departments have the funding to purchase needed equipment and gear, Representative Moffitt helped to establish a No-interest Revolving Fire Truck Loan available to all Illinois Fire Prevention Districts. Hailed by several area fire departments for his efforts, he was named Honorary Firefighter by Clover Township, Honorary Chief of Altona Fire Protection District and Honorary Paramedic by Galesburg Hospitals Ambulance Service.
