Richard C. Richley, M.D. is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. His practice began in San Diego in sports medicine in affiliation with the Chargers, the Padres, the Clippers basketball team, and the Mariners hockey team. In 1991, he established the Laser Spine & Joint Surgery Institute of California. Dr. Richley obtained certification in Holmium CO2 lasers and erbium lasers, and began a program of minimally invasive spine surgery as a pioneer and developer of endoscopic and minimally invasive spine surgery.

During the next 20 years, he traveled to many places, including Bogotá, Columbia, Lima, Peru, Wels, Austria, Brussels, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, Ober, Austria, Acapulco, Mexico, and Cairo, Egypt, working with physicians throughout the world in modern endoscopic and minimally invasive laser-assistive spine surgeries.
