A Moment with Percussionist Tani Tabbal

Drummer ~ Tani Tabbal is a jazz drummer and plays percussion instruments of West Africa (djembe and doundoun), North India (tablas), and North Africa (doumbec). Tabbal’s passion is for the avant-garde and the blending of jazz with world rhythms. Tani has  toured with Roscoe Mitchell, David Murray, Anthony Braxton and Casandra Wilson. A child prodigy at age five Tani began playing and exploring drums. By age fourteen he was a professional performing with Oscar Brown Jr. By age seventeen Tani had already played with Phil Coran and was preparing to tour with Sun Ra and his Arkestra.
