As special needs parents, we have learned the hard way that some dreams will never come true.

The sayings of “you have to play the hand your dealt” or “you have to dance with the girl you
brought” have never been more true than when related to our child raising experiences.
 
We as fathers need to accept that while our children may never compare to the “social norm”
of society, they are perfect in their own ways. We need to accept them, be proud of them, and
help them achieve and realize their dreams, not ours.
