Derrick Ashong, aka DNA, is an established media personality and television host of "The Stream" on Al Jazeera English. Harvard educated and world trained, he is described by VanityFair.Com as "a spirit of promise and hope and harmony." DNA's band Soulfege is a critically-acclaimed, refreshingly origianl and exciting group of musicians who produce an eclectic blend of Hip-Hop, Reggae, Funk, World Beat, and West African Highlife music. The band's music is estimated to have reached 146 million listeners worldwide, and the band is poised to give away 1 million downloads of their new album AFropolitan this year. DNA is a true renaissance man, having lived in such locations as Brooklyn, New York, Vorhees, New Jersey, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and currently resides in Washington D.C. DNA even had a small role in Steven Spielberg's film, "Amistad".  Ashong has appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "The Mo'nique Show", and has lectured extensively throughout the world on the use of social media as a tool for human development. DNA has also talked in in front of world dignitaries including Bill Clinton at the Club de Madrid, before the UK Parliament on the subject of "The Obama Generation". He is the founder of Take Back the Mic, a youth-centered cultural movement that leverages the power of artistry and technology to empower young people and is also on the Board of Advisors for Children Mending Hearts.
