Is CHILD SUPPORT for the chld or the parent?

This show will hit on the reasoning behind child support and expose the way some parents use it against one another for their own selfish reasons.  Is child support really for the support of the child or is it for the parents to be able to keep the same lifestyle they had when they shared a relationship and made a child?  Is the child support system fair when it comes to determining the amount of support?  Should the absent parent be forced to pay child support when they didn't agree with the pregnancy?
