Madness Monday topic of the night is: BLACK LOVE

With the passing of the euorpean holiday “valentines day” I will spare yall of the history this evil “holiday” represents and instead focus on the African- centered alternative to valentines day, which is observed as Black Love Day.

Black Love Day was created in February of 1993 by Ayo Handy Kendi who also was the founder/ director of the African American Holiday Association. This holiday is observed on February 13th and research says this is also observed on many college campuses and many communities around the world. Black Love Day is supposed to be a 24 hour demonstration of Black love, specifically towards the Creator, for Self, for the Family, within the Black Community and the Black Race.

So in respect to Black Love Day, lets celebrate black love and talk about the love within the black community.What is black love to you? Why is it so important to the black community. Can black love heal the pain the community struggles with to let go?
