When you can understand and work through your personal past issues, you are able to start your healing process. It is never too late to look inward and unlearn the old defensive mechanisms. A wide array of therapeutic interventions can help us live a fuller and happier life and "Writing as Healing" is one effective approach. Our ancestors did not have the therapeutic advantages that we have today, so we have the opportunity of doing the work they could not do.

Reading poems about survival, addictions, transitions, hope, abandonment, loss and ultimately strength, can quickly get to the core of how people are experiencing their personal issues. It offers opportunities for insight, connection, creativity and catharsis as well as fun. With no writing instruction or critique and with use of poetry we can focus on a powerful therapeutic process that facilitates joy and healing.

Join Dr. Sadigh and his special guest, Ms. Leslie Tuchman, and learn how group processing can transform a safe circle of words to new bonds of understanding. Once people get involved in the group, amazing things emerge; taking risks, forming bonds and opening up doors that would be too scary to open anywhere else.

Leslie Tuchman is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of experience in most areas of mental health for adults, couples, families, teens and children, as well as the GLBT population. Leslie has been leading Writing for Healing Workshops in educational settings, rehabilitation centers, mental health agencies, community settings and in her own private practice for the past 8 years.
