Colorism: Racism within the African-American Community

There is a very serious issue that has plagued the African-American way of life for centuries. In the past, African-American people have been put down, beaten, demeaned and killed just because their skin was a different tone from the masses. For the most part we expected it from othe etnicites. Very sad, but very true.

But the one place we shouldn't expected is within our own communities and it some cases it happens in our own homes.

Have you ever heard someone within the Afican-American community say "I'm gonna marry somebody white or spanish because I don't want no black babies." I know I have heard it millions of times. Or what about the stigma it puts on our children that if they're not light they're not right.
