Today’s program, The Battle of the Warsaw Ghetto, by Morton Wishengrad, commemorates the 70 anniversary of that heroic fight for freedom from the Nazis. Nearly 445,000 people were cramped into an area that had previously held one-tenth of that number.
13,000 Jews were killed in the ghetto during the uprising. Of the remaining 50,000 residents, most were captured and shipped to concentration and extermination camps.
