In this episode, Part 4, Jim Phillips continues to deliver more solid facts on winter clothing performance.  Jim teaches the true how and why of cold weather clothing, rather than a particular brand of something to buy.  A correctly informed person makes good buy decisions.

Understanding the truth about insulation is important for your cold weather comfort and safety.  A key part of this is what materials to use and why, rather than just going with a glitzy ad or an in your face sales pitch.

The clothing industry gives lip service to breathability, however, they actually have no idea about the actual science of how to stay dry and warm for extended periosd.  The reality of staying dry in the snow has nothing to do with waterproofing.  In fact, clothing that is waterproof or waterproof/breathable can be deadly.
