Sherie Burgess is a Licensed Master Social Worker with over fifteen years of experience working with diverse populations including children, homeless people, substance abusers, survivors of domestic violence, and elderly people. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Morgan State University and went on to earn a Masters Degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore School for Social Work.

In addition to program development and non-profit management in clinical and administrative positions, Sherie has worked in supervisory and leadership roles in variety of settings including schools, residential, mental health clinics and community based organizations.

After gaining experience in child welfare Sherie was drawn to identifying ways to best support workers and raise the standards of care to improve access to services. Sherie has always had a special interest in teaching and particularly enjoys coaching, supervising and training social work interns preparing to entering the field.

Most recently Sherie has developed a unique inspirational notebook called thecaseworkjournal.  This journal is designed as a place for human service professionals to document their work, thoughts, notes. It can also be a safe place to vent after an exhausting or frustrating day. It provides workers with quotes each time you turn the page to keep you inspired, motivated or amused. It’s a terrific tool for all human service providers.

Sherie is a trained Mediator and is Seminar In Field Instructor (SIFI) certified. She is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, (NASW) and Toastmasters International.
