Gather 'round while we elucidate THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD on this week's Disney Magic Hour. In 1949 Walt and Co released another package film that, instead of presenting one feature length tale, had two shorter stories contained within. First up is a rapid version of Kenneth Grahame's THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS were we meet J. Thaddeus Toad along with his trusty, if exasperated, friends MacBadger, Rat and Mole as they battle for the deed to Toad Hall which is in the hands of the dastardly Weasels. That is, if Mr. Toad can keep it together long enough to not sink and plans to do so. Following that we meet a lanky, bookworm by name of Ichabod Crane whom seems to be the smoothest character ever walk into Sleepy Hollow. Right up till Brom Bones tells the tale of the Headless Horseman by way of Bing Crosby's voice. As always we will ask three questions of the the film at the conclusion of our show and they are : 1) Does the film hold up? 2) Is it a film aimed to send a message or is it trying to elicit an emotional response? 3) What is the iconic shot of the film. Lots to cover and when you have Disney to discuss, you call on the best. This week we welcome Ryan P Wilson of the Main Street Gazette. You may recognize Ryan from his immaculate blog work at his website and from his numerous appearances on WDW Radio with Lou Mongello. We are extremely excited to have him here with us and hope you enjoy this week's episode of the DISNEY MAGIC HOUR!
