Jack Terschluse, a junior at Washington University in St. Louis, founded Penpals United in 2011.

Penpals United, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides online support groups and pen-pal opportunities to more than 250 kids and teens with type one diabetes in India, Rwanda, Uganda and Mexico. The organization continues to grow. A 2012 Coca-Cola Scholar, Jack currently studies pre-law, participates actively in his local JDRF chapter and had the honor to serve as delegate to JDRF's 2011 Children's Congress. Jack also holds a leadership position in his fraternity, Alpha Delta Phi. He was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 2005 and currently wears an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor.
