Dr. Steven Finkelstein is an Associate Professor and Associate Department Chair in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin. Steve has been a leader in the observational discovery of very distant galaxies with the Hubble Space Telescope, and followup observations of these galaxies with the world’s largest ground-based telescopes.
Steve and his team are involved involved in several future NASA space missions, including as a Principal Investigator of an Early Release Science program with the James Webb Space Telescope, which will launch in early 2021. He is married to Dr. Keely Finkelstein, who is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the department, and they have two kids together.
