Laying it to rest: pregnancy & bedrest. Common in pregnant women for a variety of medical & obstetrical conditions. The debate on whether it is proven to support a high risk pregnancy to term is another question. Tonight’s show, the real experts speak: women who were put on bedrest during their pregnancies.

Join Denise Bolds, DONA certified birth doula, producer/host of “Awake in Birth” with TWO special guests; Laurie Rich & Darline Turner.

Laurie Rich earned her law degree at Northeastern University School of Law, returning to journalism as the Department Editor, Environment, of Chemical Week magazine. She became pregnant with twins. Laurie had 10 major, painful, debilitating complications that kept her bedridden for 7 months, the last 5 weeks of which were in the hospital.

Darline Turner is the founder of Mamas On Bedrest & Beyond. 20 years experience as a PA, ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist®, perinatal fitness instructor & educator. She brings a perspective as both a clinician & a high risk, older mom (who gave birth at 37 & 40 respectively). Darline relates to the emotional experience of high risk pregnancies. She was pregnant every year between 2001 & 2006 with the exception of 2003; she had 4 conceptions, 2 miscarriages, 2 high risk pregnancies & 2 cesarean births.
