Only since the mid-1980's have video games been around and grown extremely popular. The systems have come a far cry from what they used to be too, dating back to an 8-bit Nintendo (which is blown out of the water compared to other consoles now).  Nintendo Wii is 256-bit and PS3 and other newer consoles aren't even in the "bit" lingo anymore. It's all about gigahertz. PS3 has a 3.2 GHz processor.

So what does it all mean, you may be wondering? Well basically game systems have better graphics and are much faster.

Are those qualities necessarily better? Not if you still enjoy shooting down some ducks or accidentally shooting the dog on Duck Hunt for Nintendo. Some like it simple, and who couldn't with the classic 8-bit music and the general simplicity of it all? However, some like it more complex and violent, like Call Of Duty and Modern Warfare. Whatever the case, video games surround us and are worth discussing.
