the Capital Jazz Fest Challenge in 2009. Folks in that big room in Columbia, Maryland, that day were wowed. Hardened music people who suddenly got re-charged :)

That's what Marcus does to you - gives you the new battery pack to jumpstart your heart. And has a LOT of energy left over - after giving it to YOU.

Born to a large, musically inclined family in... South Carolina, Mom and Dad knew they had something special on their hands and nurtured Marcus early in life. He thrived in Church and he thrived in Jazz studies at North Carolina Central University - where he studied with Branford Marsalis and Gospel saxophonist, Donald Hayes.

Marcus was part of the revered HBCU All Jazz Ensemble - as first tenor sax - for three years. By this time, he knew his calling.

Three CDS under his belt, endless success stories at Jazz Festivals and venues across the country, and an upcoming gig at Blues Alley in DC (8/8), this young man continues to catch fire in the best of ways.

YOU'VE heard the buzz yourself - you feel it - and you know why after you've seen Marcus. Composer/Sax/Flutist/Vocal?ist/Dancer - it's way more talent on that stage than we're used to seeing.

Hear about the fabulous and still very young journey of Marcus Anderson - this Monday at 7 Eastern time on "Cool Jazz Conversations."
