Kalief Browder... The Aftermath....

On Saturday June 6, 2015 Kalief Browder committed suicide by hanging himself from a second story bedroom window of his parents home with an Air Conditioner Chord. He had just turned 22. Was his death his fault or the fault of a justice system that failed him as they have failed others like him for decades. Kalief Browder. A then 16 year  old Black Male from the Bronx sent to Rikers Island Jail for 3 years, destroyed mentally and psychologically  from 2 of those years spent in Solitary Confinement, Assaulted by Inmates and Correctional Staff, denied bail, denied the right to a fair and speedy trial all this from a false accusation allegd victim who accused Kalief of stealing a bookbag to have the case dropped and released in May of 2013 for lack of witnessess.Upon release Kalief was exploited by the media, preyed on by the community and had 2 sit through a painful deposition by the state which was nothing more than a psychological test to determine whether or not he was telling the truth about what he went through to deny the suit filed by his attorney against the state of New York, the d.a., the warden of rikers, the correction who assaulted him and the police. Kalief began putting his life back together by getting his GED and enrolling in Bronx Community College but seemed to take one step forward to get knocked 2 steps back. Kalief was shot, stabbed and caught a new charge. Fearful of going back 2 jail and re-living that same ordeal all over again the culprits involved in this case caused him to committ the unthinkable. After his untimely passing his sweet mother  Venida Browder who loved him so took on the fight of justice 4 kalief and the lawsuit. having to deal with the media and the state of new york now comes her ex-husband with his lawyer staking a claim in his late sons estate. Venida Browder fought long and hard for her son but lost her battle to heart failure but the fight wages on.
