Get ready for an inspiring story of faith and determination! Coach Cafe welcomes Brian Dickinson, author of Blind Descent: Surving Alone and Blind on Mount Everest. Roughly 1,000 feet from the summit of Mount Everest – also known as “the death zone”--Brian's Sherpa guide was forced to turn back after falling ill. Brian had to decide whether to push forward alone to the summit of Mt. Everest or turn back.
After carefully weighing his options, Dickinson decided to continue up alone. Just four hours later, Dickinson solo summited the highest peak in the world. As Brian prepared to descend back down the mountain's 29,035 feet, his vision suddenly became blurry, his eyes started to burn, and within seconds he was rendered almost completely blind.
Alone at the top of the world, low on oxygen, and stricken with snow blindness Brian was forced to inch his way back down the mountain relying only on his Navy survival training, his gut instinct, and most importantly, his faith.
Tune in to hear Brian's gripping story and how it has impacted his life, faith and what he has to share about empowerment and overcoming challenging situations in life.
