Baltimore, MD – CUTV News Radio welcomes back fantasy and science fiction author Roxanne Bland Roxanne will discuss the release of her acclaimed novel The Underground: Second Edition published on May 10th.

Roxanne creates fantastical worlds blending science fiction, fantasy, horror, romance, and erotica that grab the reader’s attention from her book’s very first lines. She is the author of two acclaimed self-published fantasy and science fiction novels, The Underground and The Moreva of Astoreth through her imprint Blackrose Press.

“The reason why I rewrote The Underground is because the feedback I got was so great,” says Roxanne. “It’s been totally reshaped. The book is much tighter now, even with new chapters added. I owe it to the people who found merit in my book but also found issues. They were constructive. And I got enough constructive criticism that I was determined to re-write it to make it a better book.”

While writing is a solitary pursuit, there is a real sense of community, especially in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. Roxanne says aspiring authors must make a concerted effort to reach out to those in the community or risk isolating your story from those who will read it.

“It is scary to put your book out there,” says Roxanne. “Your book is a piece of you so there is always a fear of rejection, but you need to engage with the community because the community needs to know you are offering it something. You have to beat your drum. Go to conventions. Talk to other writers. Talk to readers, especially. Be a part of the community.”
