Duppy is a word of African descent commonly used in different Caribbean island including Jamaica and Barbadoes. Much of the Jamaican folklore is centered around Duppy/Duppies . Duppy is a malevolent spirit or ghost.. There are good duppy and bad duppy. Good duppy/duppies  are those considered to protect the living and "blow good breeze pon yuh". Bad duppy/duppies are those who people set pon yuh though obeah or withcraft. Duppy/Duppies are said to manifest themselves in the form of animals or in the form o f the dead person. Some duppies have gained notoriety like Copey Duppy. Then their was the three wheel coffin driving around in the island t with two Johncrows on the top asking for Mr. Brown. Duppy in Jamaica is a serious topic that will cause a person to stay awake all night because of fear.
