Secrecy in spiritual traditions

: Many spiritual traditions are shrouded in secrecy, for various reasons. Some secrets become revealed upon initiation or upon reaching a certain degree. Some secrets seem only to maintain the power of the person possessing the secret. Too much secrecy in some traditions have led to much problems as peoples minds conjure up all sorts of evil deeds that you must be up to if they don't understand your ways.
