A review of John 8:1-11, describes a direct confrontation between Jesus and the scribes and Pharisees. A direct confrontation was needed in order to defeat the unjust accusations waged against the woman allegedly caught in the act of adultery. Even though Jesus initially resisted the temptation to publicly speak to and expose the known sins of the scribes and the Pharisees, it became evident to Jesus that he had to expose the their impropriaties and illegalities in order to secure a victory and overcome the persistent challenges that were later proven to be unjust and illegal pursuant to the Mosaic Law and the comtemporary Roman laws. As believers, we should resist the temptation to accuse or judge others, however, when necessary, exposure of known and proven sins and shortcomings of enemies, could be warranted to defeat accusers with no legal right to accuse. Jesus only pointed and exposed when he found it necessary to save the life of someone else or preserve his own credibility as the Christ.. The pointing of Jesus was God-ordained and it was necessary to defeat unjust and illegal challenges mounted by the scribes and Pharisees. Jesus pointed with a purpose.
