   Welcome Eric Stone WWII Maritime Researcher.

    Eric grew up an Air Force ‘Brat’ moving with his family to New Hampshire, California, Utah, Italy and Germany. Along the way he developed an interest in history when his family lived in Germany in the early 1970’s. As he said, “History was all around me. From Roman artifacts to Medieval Castles to WWII bunkers my friends and I liked to explore.” Eric has since taken his interest in history on to a personal project that began as a few casual searches on the internet, then a quest and eventually a passion for telling the untold stories of the US Merchant Marine in WWII.

It started with hearing his wife’s family talk about their Great Uncle Bernard who was killed in WWII. It was clear to Eric that the family had little understanding about the circumstances of Bernard’s loss.
