Military Author Radio co hosts Dr. Tom Gauthier and Dari Bradley welcome our July 29, 2012 Guest:  Teresa Irish,  author of the newly published A Thousand Letters Home, One WWII Soldier's Story of War, Love and Life. This book is comprised of 320 of the 1,000 handwritten letters from her father, Aarol W. "Bud" Irish, a decorated army soldier, written during his 38 months of service in WWII. The letters, which were accompanied by 250 photographs and historic documents, were discovered when Teresa opened his army trunk shortly after his death in 2006.

Not only did her father leave his legacy through his letters, but he led Teresa to her future. The letters were the reason she initiated a conversation with a soldier seated across the aisle from her on a plane in 2009. He was returning to the middle-east for his last six months of three years in Kuwait and Qatar.  In October, 2011, she became a first-time bride at age 49, marrying that soldier, LTC Bradley J. Foster, USAR.   Brad is currently serving at Ft. Bragg. They honored her dad's memory with the surprise unveiling of the book at their wedding reception, and presented the first copy to her 89 year old mother - the object of her father’s affections as documented in their WWII courtship.
