STONES.....we've all had them!!

Stones can come in the form of disappointments, betrayals, physical scars, financial ruin, and many more. We all have many stones in our lives. I remember being told “use this disappointment as a stepping stone”.  I never truly embraced what that meant until my pastor taught a sermon on the stones in our lives. I remember when I was in a major transition, a disappointing and hurtful one in my life many years ago.  I moved into a small one-bedroom apartment, was working part-time, and did not have much money. I remember throwing bills in the air and whichever ones hit the ground first, those got priority. When I first moved into this apartment I literally had NO FOOD. I went to the store and stretched the money that I had and I remember saying “I am going to treat myself to these corndogs”.  Later, much later, 8 YEARS later when I moved out of that apartment into the house God blessed me with, I still had those corndogs. I never ate them. They stayed in the package.  These were a stone. It reminded me where I was, but not where I was going.
