Elaine Plummer says "The Holland America cruise was to be a celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary. We were going to cruise around Cape Horn, visit Machu Picchu and go through the Panama Canal while celebrating our love and marriage.  After the first week, the dynamics of the cruise changed from that to a frightening avoidance of COVID-19.  The situation began evolving to a place where we had to trust Holland America and follow the directions to stay safe and healthy."  Today she shares the joys, despair and fear as many passengers got sick, some died and port after port refused them docking rights. Even the Panama Canal authority had to be persuaded to allow the ship's passage.
