Epsiode 22. Adoptive Families Beginning the Adoption Process- What You Need to Know

We hold adoption information seminars across the United States, speaking to adoptive families about the adoption process and educating society on adoption.

In speaking with families interested in adoption, we are asked the same questions at every adoption seminar:

  1. What are birth mothers looking for in an adoptive family?
  2. What if I have other children, will I still be chosen by a birth mother?  What if I am a single mother?
  3. Why is open adoption so popular is it like co-parenting?
  4. How long do you have to wait to have a baby placed with you?  What affects the length of the wait?
  5. How do families afford an adoption?

Often times birth parents choose a family based upon:

  1. Type of Adoption Preference
  2. Location of Family
  3. Other Children
  4. Pets
  5. Future Childcare Plans:
    1. Stay at Home Parent vs Daycare
  6. Religion
  7. Lifestyle: Educated / Traveled / Hobbies
  8. Reason for adopting
