Currently a law student in Charlotte, North Carolina, Tanika LaRosa Lakes is pursuing her dream to become an attorney.
She has spent most of her life in some form of an educational setting.  She graduated high school in 2000 just barely making honors, and thought her life had ended when she received an F in advanced Latin class. She then went to school at Darton Community College (Graduated 2002, cum laude) majoring in Business Administration and Criminal Justice.  During that time, she became highly active in the community. She was into raising money, helping organize community events and participating on a regular basis, at least once a month for some organization.

She graduated from Valdosta State University with Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.  During this time, she was active in the community specifically with the Black Student League and NAACP.  While participating with the NAACP in Valdosta, GA she was able to march/protest the slaying of Kenneth B. Walker, an innocent black man killed by police in Columbus, GA and marched in protest for Troy Davis.
